Why President Buhari may not attend presidential debate — APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says its presidential candidate, President Buhari, may choose not to attend the 2019 presidential debate slated for Saturday January 19th if he feels there are other viable options with which he can speak to Nigerians. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said this in an interview with Daily Independent. He said the APC will look at several options through which President Buhari will engage Nigerians, adding that there is no big deal if it believes debate is not one of such means. “What is special about presidential debate? Presidential debate is one of the several platforms for presidential candidates to engage with the public. As a party, we will look at all the options and pick the ones that we can accommodate and those that will be impactful and effective in achieving our goals. We will be the ones to determine that. If presidential debate happens to be one of that, fine. “If it wasn’t, then it is no big dea...

Unlike other presidential candidates, Buhari is a honest man and not a thief- Bola Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, today said that President Buhari’s trustworthiness is what distinguishes him as the candidate to beat in the 2019 presidential elections.  Speaking at a function in Lagos today, Tinubu said unlike the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, President Buhari is not a thief. “President Buhari is a straight and honest man. Leave a Naira on the table with Buhari in the room. You will find the Naira on the table when you return. When Buhari says ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ you know where he stands. He means what he says, no more, no less.  With Atiku, things are more nuanced. This shows he has no vision for the nation except the naked pursuit of power for the naked use of that power'' he said The APC National Leader said that Atiku had his chance to shine as Vice-President when he controlled the privatisation programme of the Obasanjo government but abused this assignment and helped squander bill...
