'Prepare for consequences of your action' - DSS tells IPOB

The Department of State Services has warned those behind the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra to have a rethink or be prepared to face the consequences of their action.   According to the service, it is prepared to maintain adequate security across Nigeria, saying it will not allow any person or group to obstruct the freedom of law-abiding citizens. Spokesperson for the DSS, Peter Afunnaya, said this in a telephone interview with Punch, in Abuja, on Friday.   He was reacting to the May 30 sit-at-home order given by the IPOB in the South-East. Afunnaya said, “The service will not condone people taking the law into their hands and obstructing the freedom of others. Court orders INEC not to issue certificate of returns to Governor Rochas Okorocha

he battle to stop the Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha from going to the Senate took another dimension on Saturday as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered not to issue a Certificate of Return to him as a senator-elect for Imo West.   The order was made by a High Court sitting in Owerri. The court, in a suit filed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Imo West Hon Jones Onyeriri against the INEC, ordered that the status quo be maintained until the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.   The presiding judge, Justice E.F. Njemanze, adjourned the case till June 5 2019, for hearing.

Indian politician with 9 eligible family members, breaks down in tears after getting 5 votes

An Indian politician broke down in tears after he saw that he got only 5 votes following an election. Neetu Shuttern Wala stood independently as he contested for the Jalandhar seat in Punjab. When the votes were counted, he claimed to have gotten only 5 votes and he broke down in tears, not because of his loss but because it appeared his family members didn't vote for him. Neetu had 9 family members eligible to vote so he was distraught when he saw only 5 votes, making him believe he didn't even get his family's vote. In a trending video, Neetu is seen granting an interview but he was too emotional to go on and he broke down in tears while expressing his disappointment with his family. Theresa May to Resign as UK PM June 7: “I have done everything I can”

Britain’s Prime Minister  Theresa May  has said she’ll step down from her position and as U.K. Conservative Party leader on June 7. She said this on Friday at a press conference in front of 10 Downing Street. May said she’s resigning after she’s tried, three times, to make Brexit a reality. “Ever since I first stepped through the door behind me as prime minister I have striven to make the United Kingdom a country that works not just for the privileged few but for everyone, and to honor the result of the referendum,” May said. She added: “I have done everything I can to convince MPs to back this deal. Sadly, I have not been able — I tried three times.” “I believe it was right to persevere….it is now clear to me that it is in the best interest of the country for a new PM to lead that effort,” May said. APC House of Reps elect Dies in Kano

A Federal House of Representatives elect Garba Muhammad Butalawa, representing Kura, Madobi and Garun Mallam in Kano, has died. The Nation gathered that the Late Garba contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He died at the Prime Clinic, Lamido Crescent on Saturday at around 2:30pm, his personal driver, Balarabe Shehu Butalawa confirmed this to The Nation. The House of Reps elect died after a protracted illness.

APC attacks CP Singham Wakili, says ‘he helped PDP to rig Kano guber poll’

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Kano State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Wakili of actively assisting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to rig the governorship election in Kano state. The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja that the Police Commissioner withdrew Kano state commissioner’s orderlies. “It is on record how the Kano State Police Commissioner actively assisted the opposition PDP to rig inside Kano city with the deployment of police security for Rabiu Kwankwaso loyalists while state commissioner’s orderlies were withdrawn,” he said. Tribunal grants Buhari and APC's request to Inspect presidential election materials

The Election Petition Tribunal for the February 23rd presidential election has granted access to President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to inspect the materials used for the elections.   President Buhari and the APC had applied in separate motions for ex parte orders to be granted to them to inspect the materials.   The applications were made in preparation of its defence team against expected petitions to be filed by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the outcome of the election.   Earlier on March 6, 2019, the tribunal, led by Justice Abdu Aboki, granted same order to PDP to inspect the election materials. In the ruling issued on Thursday, the tribunal granted Buhari and APC permission to inspect the electoral materials and obtain certified copies of the documents from INEC.

Ezekwesili replies ACPN, says “no iota of truth” in its “defamatory statements”

Former presidential candidate of the  Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Oby Ezekwesili  has released a statement responding to allegations made by her party against her and its subsequent endorsement of  President Muhammadu Buhari . Ezekwesili who withdrew from the race to build a coalition to defeat both the APC and the PDP, said that she had to “swiftly depart” from the party, upon realising “the divergence of values and vision with the leadership of the party”. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated the President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) Ambassadors’ executives in Abuja as a grassroots mobilisation group for the re-election of the president. FG to question Atiku on Fraud Allegations when he Returns from U.S – Lai Mohammed

Presidential candidate of the  People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ,  Atiku Abubakar has questions to answer when he returns from the U.S, Minister of Information and Culture,  Lai Mohammed  has said. According to  The Guardian , Mohammed said this while briefing State House correspondents on Friday. The  People’s Democratic Party (PDP)  presidential candidate  Atiku Abubakar has said he doesn’t believe the 2019 elections will be free and fair. Speaking to the BBC, Atiku said he hasn’t seen any evidence that the present administration is willing to organize a credible election. Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District  Remi Tinubu  has lamented to the Senate that she doesn’t feel safe in her office. President Buhari has explained why the country is still experiencing the problem of out-of-school children, known as Almajiri in the North. During a town hall session tonight in Abuja, the President said the state and local governments have not been fulfilling their own part of the bargain.   “Federal Government gives money to state and local governments and they’re the ones who can take care of the Almajiri issue, but because they didn’t do their job, that’s why we still have the issue of Almajiris”the President said. Reports however indicate that more than N67bn earmarked by the Federal Government between 2005 and 2017 for the Universal Basic Education scheme has yet to be accessed.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says its presidential candidate, President Buhari, may choose not to attend the 2019 presidential debate slated for Saturday January 19th if he feels there are other viable options with which he can speak to Nigerians. APC shuts down official website after it got hacked

The All Progressives Congress(APC) on Saturday said its official website, apc.com.ng, had been hacked with unauthorised content posted on its pages.   Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary, who disclosed this in a statement, said he had directed for the site to be taken down. “Our attention has just been drawn to the fact that the APC’s official website, apc.com.ng, has been hacked with unauthorised content posted on our pages. I have instructed that the site be taken down. Steps are underway to clean it up, strengthen the security and restore it as soon as possible. We won’t allow desperate people to succeed in their evil plots,” the APC spokesman said.
