APC attacks CP Singham Wakili, says ‘he helped PDP to rig Kano guber poll’

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Kano State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Wakili of actively assisting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to rig the governorship election in Kano state.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja that the Police Commissioner withdrew Kano state commissioner’s orderlies.
“It is on record how the Kano State Police Commissioner actively assisted the opposition PDP to rig inside Kano city with the deployment of police security for Rabiu Kwankwaso loyalists while state commissioner’s orderlies were withdrawn,” he said.
He added that Kano remains an APC state and that the party is confident of winning the supplementary election in the state.
“The APC’s visible achievements in Kano state under Governor Abdullahi Ganduje are enough to give the party an emphatic victory in the rerun election. Again, the rerun will be mostly in APC-controlled rural areas and Nasarawa local government area where our Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is from. Undoubtedly, Kano state remains an APC stronghold and remains in our firm control,” Issa-Onilu added.
Wakili  has been described as the hero of 2019 general elections as policemen under his watch arrested the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo and chairman of Nassarawa Local Government, Alhaji Lamin Sani, for allegedly destroying result sheets during the collation of local government results for the governorship and state Assembly elections in Kano.

Theresa May to Resign as UK PM June 7: “I have done everything I can”

Britain’s Prime Minister  Theresa May  has said she’ll step down from her position and as U.K. Conservative Party leader on June 7. She said this on Friday at a press conference in front of 10 Downing Street. May said she’s resigning after she’s tried, three times, to make Brexit a reality. “Ever since I first stepped through the door behind me as prime minister I have striven to make the United Kingdom a country that works not just for the privileged few but for everyone, and to honor the result of the referendum,” May said. She added: “I have done everything I can to convince MPs to back this deal. Sadly, I have not been able — I tried three times.” “I believe it was right to persevere….it is now clear to me that it is in the best interest of the country for a new PM to lead that effort,” May said. May held back tears throughout the speech and was visibly tearful as she concluded her speech.
