The Department of State Services has warned those behind the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra to have a rethink or be prepared to face the consequences of their action.   According to the service, it is prepared to maintain adequate security across Nigeria, saying it will not allow any person or group to obstruct the freedom of law-abiding citizens. The court, in a suit filed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Imo West Hon Jones Onyeriri against the INEC, ordered that the status quo be maintained until the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.   The presiding judge, Justice E.F. An Indian politician broke down in tears after he saw that he got only 5 votes following an election. Neetu Shuttern Wala stood independently as he contested for the Jalandhar seat in Punjab. When the votes were counted, he claimed to have gotten only 5 votes and he broke down in tears, not because of his loss but because it appeared his family members didn't vote for him. Britain’s Prime Minister  Theresa May  has said she’ll step down from her position and as U.K. Conservative Party leader on June 7. She said this on Friday at a press conference in front of 10 Downing Street. May said she’s resigning after she’s tried, three times, to make Brexit a reality. “Ever since I first stepped through the door behind me as prime minister I have striven to make the United Kingdom a country that works not just for the privileged few but for everyone, and to honor the result of the referendum,” May said. The National Film and Video Censors Board has set up three panels to analyse a new movie starring popular Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky. The movie titled, "Bobrisky in Love" features Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky. In the movie, Bobrisky plays the role of a transgender who travelled out of the country as a man named Cherechi but returned to the village as a woman named Cherry B, to the shock of his fiancee and relatives. Aliyu of the Federal High Court in Minna, Niger State on Thursday, May 23, 2019, revoked the bail granted to the former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and the former state governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Gado Nasko. The judge, who was visibly angry over the absence of ex-Governor Aliyu and Nasko in court despite the issuance of hearing notice, also ordered bench warrant against the duo for disrespect to court. EFCC is prosecuting Babangida Aliyu and Nasko, following their alleged involvement in about N2billion money laundering and other financial crimes. The accused persons were formerly arraigned before Justice Bogoro Yelin where they pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence. The Supreme Court this morning ruled that the PDP won the March 9th governorship election in Zamfara state. Delivering judgement in an appeal filed by the PDP, the apex court upheld the ruling of the Court of Appeal in Sokoto that the APC did not conduct any governorship primaries ahead of the governorship election and so was not eligible to contest the election. The court in a unanimous judgement by a five-member panel on Friday decided that a party that had no valid candidate cannot be said to have emerged winner of the recently conducted general elections. The candidate of the APC, Mukhtar Idris, had been declared winner of the elections after he polled 534,541 votes despite controversies trailing his emergence as the party's flag bearer.  The PDP candidate who came second is expected to be sworn in as the governor of the state come Wednesday, May 29th. He will take over from Governor Yari Abdulaziz of the APC.

The Emir of Patigi in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar, is dead. Umar reportedly died in Abuja on Tuesday night after a brief illness. The report of the emir’s death was contained in a message by Muritala Raheem, Personal Assistant to the Emir of Ilorin and the Chairman of the state’s Council of Emirs and Obas. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that until his death, the deceased was the vice chairman of the state’s traditional council. The remains of the first class traditional ruler would be buried on Wednesday in Patigi by 2pm. Four members of an armed robbery gang suspected to have attacked a lodge for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state have been killed.   The notorious robbery gang believed to be terrorising Isiokolo and its environs, was said to have attacked the lodge few days ago, carting away valuables belonging to the defenseless corps members.   The robbers were also said to have attacked a bush bar in the neighbourhood of the lodge, causing mayhem.   But four of them met their Waterloo on Monday during a shootout with a team of operatives from Isiokolo police division of the state police command.

A Federal House of Representatives elect Garba Muhammad Butalawa, representing Kura, Madobi and Garun Mallam in Kano, has died. The Nation gathered that the Late Garba contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He died at the Prime Clinic, Lamido Crescent on Saturday at around 2:30pm, his personal driver, Balarabe Shehu Butalawa confirmed this to The Nation. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Kano State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Wakili of actively assisting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to rig the governorship election in Kano state. The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja that the Police Commissioner withdrew Kano state commissioner’s orderlies. “It is on record how the Kano State Police Commissioner actively assisted the opposition PDP to rig inside Kano city with the deployment of police security for Rabiu Kwankwaso loyalists while state commissioner’s orderlies were withdrawn,” he said. Fulani leaders have alleged the killing of 81 cows and rustling of 32 by suspected local militia on Thursday, near the Collage of Accountancy in Kwall, Bassa local government area of Plateau State. Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and the Jonde Jam Fulani Youth Association of Nigeria, at the weekend, described the attack as unprovoked. MACBAN Chairman in Plateau State, Muhammad Nura Abdullahi mailed pictures of the dead cows and told journalists that 81 cows had been shot dead with others matcheted, 32 rustled while 48 were injured but eventually taken to the slaughter house to avoid further loss. The Police Command in Kaduna State on Sunday vowed to fish out the attackers of Nandu village of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State and bring them to justice. The Command Public Relations Officer, Yakubu Sabo, who made this known to News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna, said the command had mobilised operatives to the scene of the incident and taken the injured and dead to the hospital. Mr Sabo said that a joint patrol team of the Police and the Army were in the area to forestall possible break down of law and order. He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahaman, had condemn the killing and commiserated with the families of victims of the attack. According to him, Mr Abdulrahaman has advised the affected community against taking the law into their hands and to allow justice to take its course. Overweight Police officers in Thailand are currently undergoing a weight-loss training at a camp as part of a nation-wide program aptly called “Belly Destruction”.   After the success of a two-week pilot program, police stations in Thailand have begun sending their fattest officers to the Central Police Training Center in the city of Pak Chong, to take part in an intense physical activity designed to adjust the size of their bellies. Each station will periodically send two to three overweight policemen to the centre, where they will work out, ride bicycles and adopt a healthy, protein-rich diet to shed as much extra weight as possible.
