Four members of an armed robbery gang suspected to have attacked a lodge for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state have been killed.   The notorious robbery gang believed to be terrorising Isiokolo and its environs, was said to have attacked the lodge few days ago, carting away valuables belonging to the defenseless corps members.   The robbers were also said to have attacked a bush bar in the neighbourhood of the lodge, causing mayhem.   But four of them met their Waterloo on Monday during a shootout with a team of operatives from Isiokolo police division of the state police command.

APC House of Reps elect Dies in Kano

A Federal House of Representatives elect Garba Muhammad Butalawa, representing Kura, Madobi and Garun Mallam in Kano, has died. The Nation gathered that the Late Garba contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He died at the Prime Clinic, Lamido Crescent on Saturday at around 2:30pm, his personal driver, Balarabe Shehu Butalawa confirmed this to The Nation. The House of Reps elect died after a protracted illness.

APC attacks CP Singham Wakili, says ‘he helped PDP to rig Kano guber poll’

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Kano State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Wakili of actively assisting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to rig the governorship election in Kano state. The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja that the Police Commissioner withdrew Kano state commissioner’s orderlies. “It is on record how the Kano State Police Commissioner actively assisted the opposition PDP to rig inside Kano city with the deployment of police security for Rabiu Kwankwaso loyalists while state commissioner’s orderlies were withdrawn,” he said. JUST IN: Militants kill 81 cows, rustle 32 in Plateau

Some of the cows killed by militants in Kwall, Bassa local government area of Plateau State. Fulani leaders have alleged the killing of 81 cows and rustling of 32 by suspected local militia on Thursday, near the Collage of Accountancy in Kwall, Bassa local government area of Plateau State. Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and the Jonde Jam Fulani Youth Association of Nigeria, at the weekend, described the attack as unprovoked. MACBAN Chairman in Plateau State, Muhammad Nura Abdullahi mailed pictures of the dead cows and told journalists that 81 cows had been shot dead with others matcheted, 32 rustled while 48 were injured but eventually taken to the slaughter house to avoid further loss. Police vow to fish out perpetrators of Sanga attack

The Police Command in Kaduna State on Sunday vowed to fish out the attackers of Nandu village of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State and bring them to justice. The Command Public Relations Officer, Yakubu Sabo, who made this known to News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna, said the command had mobilised operatives to the scene of the incident and taken the injured and dead to the hospital. Mr Sabo said that a joint patrol team of the Police and the Army were in the area to forestall possible break down of law and order. He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahaman, had condemn the killing and commiserated with the families of victims of the attack. According to him, Mr Abdulrahaman has advised the affected community against taking the law into their hands and to allow justice to take its course. He explained that unknown gunmen entered Nandu village on March 16, shot dead nine persons, injured two others and torched several houses. NAN

Thailand sends overweight policemen to fat reduction camp (Photos)

Overweight Police officers in Thailand are currently undergoing a weight-loss training at a camp as part of a nation-wide program aptly called “Belly Destruction”.   After the success of a two-week pilot program, police stations in Thailand have begun sending their fattest officers to the Central Police Training Center in the city of Pak Chong, to take part in an intense physical activity designed to adjust the size of their bellies. Each station will periodically send two to three overweight policemen to the centre, where they will work out, ride bicycles and adopt a healthy, protein-rich diet to shed as much extra weight as possible.
